I am Swedish but I was born in India.
I was found on the street in Kolhapur and I had Rickets (boldleg). Before I was put into an orphanage they did a major operation on my legs. At age of four I was adopted to Sweden and grew up south of Stockholm.
It was very difficult to adjust to the Swedish society, culture, invironment and learn completely new language. That time I was named Ganesh but my doptive parents changed it to Daniel and also erased my Indian identity.
Honestly I've been struggling with my heritage my whole life, still doing it but luckily my passion for music has helped me, somehow always been there for me. I'm certain the music has helped me to conquer all the obstacles I've met through my hard years.
I started to dance early school years and later I was competing on elite level in Ballroom & Latin American Dancers. In Latin American Daniel was twice Swedish Champion.
After I watched the musical Phantom of the opera in Stockholm, early 90's I decided to quit dancing to become a singer. Later I was studying music and drama at Ballet Academy in Gothenburg. After my graduation I did some productions in Sweden like West Side Story at Gothenburg Opera House and also with this production a guest play at Rome Opera House.
Year 2002 I got a part in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End musical Bombay Dreams at Apollo Victoria Theatre. I was in the show for two years and then I took a year off working for studying at Royal Academy of Music in London.
To be in Bombay Dreams was a fantastic experience and journey but also a major cultural clash. Now I came in contact with India again after approx 30 years and I didn't know anything about India.
It was here I started to be more curious about India and my past. Today I'm trying to find my biological parents and recently I've received some results from Ancestry DNA tests and so far I've discovered alot of interesting facts about myself.
I was told from the creative team and also Mr Webber himself i had an interesting lifestory which could be good ingredients for a book, new musical, film documentary or a feature film. They literally put an idea in my head.
It took me some years to do something about this idea and now I'm trying to adapt my lifestory into a film documentary.
